Port Forwarding Information

Port forwarding refers to the process by which a router forwards data to a specific IP address depending on what port was requested.

More often than not, using remoteview software requires that the DVR be connected to a router. The router, in turn, must be configured for both connectivity and security. Portforward.com lists most consumer routers on the market with detailed procedures on how to forward/open ports on the built-in firewalls.
