Router
From Luxor Help
A router is a piece of peripheral hardware, usually external, that allows multiple computers and devices to share a single internet connection. Typically, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) leases out only one IP address to a customer's DSL/Cable modem. A customer then connects her computer to that modem, thereby establishing an internet connection.
The router serves as an intermediate device between the modem and customer's computer(s), enabling one IP address to be shared with multiple computers and devices.
Remoteview and Port Forwarding
If a DVR is connected to a computer network by way of a router, it is necessary to forward a port on the router so that incoming remoteview requests can be directed to the DVR.
